Following the fervor of “Cun Chao” (Guizhou’s Village Super League), “Xiao Chao” (Campus Super League) has taken up the baton, showcasing the vibrant spirit of youth. On the afternoon of September 30, just ahead of the National Day holiday, the cheers of over 2,000 faculty members and students from various colleges of Guizhou University (GZU) and the Affiliated High School of GZU echoed across the West Campus football field. The GZU “Xishan Cup” Campus Super League officially kicked off with exciting matches.

“The ball was only ‘0.01 kilometers’ away from the goal!” exclaimed Yang Bing, a renowned commentator from the Guizhou “Village Super League” who was specially invited to the event, bringing the vibrant energy of the village league to the GZU campus. GZU officials, including Yang Wei, Song Bao’an, Zhang Dalin, Han Bingbing, Chen Xiangsheng, Wu Pan, Zhi Qijun, Wang Xu, Chen Yanbo, and Xiang Song, attended the event to watch the matches. Vice President Wang Xu performed the ceremonial kickoff.

The opening day featured two thrilling matchups. The first match saw the “Little Roses” from the Affiliated High School of GZU face off against the GZU “Cili Flowers”. The second match saw the “Qianshan Stream Overlords” take on the “International Houttuynia” (Zhe Er Gen) team.
At the referee’s whistle, the first women’s match commenced. Players from the “Little Roses” frequently broke through with agile footwork, while the “Cili Flowers” maintained a solid defense and looked for counterattack opportunities. Both sides engaged in intense competition in the midfield, delivering numerous highlight moments. Ultimately, the two teams settled for a 0-0 draw.

“Roses in Bloom, Cili with Iron Will,” “Clash at Xishan, Triumph by the Foot” —from the stands, faculty and students waved cheering sticks and signs, rooting for their favorite teams. On the sidelines, substitutes warmed up while coaches provided tactical instructions. During the break, students from the College of Music delivered captivating performances.

The subsequent men’s match pushed the atmosphere to a climax. The “Qianshan Stream Overlords” launched a fierce offensive from the start, with forwards repeatedly driving into the opponent’s penalty area. Meanwhile, the “International Houttuynia” team played steadily, organizing counterattacks through seamless coordination. In the end, the “International Houttuynia” secured a narrow 1-0 victory with a crucial goal, claiming their first win of the league.

As the faculty and students left the stands filled with excitement after the matches, their passion was fully ignited for more high-energy moments on the pitch in the days to come.
